The International Harp Festival returns to the San Damiano Retreat Center in the beautiful hillside town of Danville, CA, May 25 - 29, 2017.

In 2017 you can look forward to:

  • Daily classes in tracks geared specifically to the beginning, intermediate and advanced players that build on the material presented the previous day.

  • Two special seminars covering Teaching Tactics and Performance, designed for advanced students, teachers, and anyone interested in beginning a performing or teaching career or taking it to the next level.

  • Internationally acclaimed artists and presenters to educate, motivate and inspire you.

  • Classes for both the pedal and non-pedal player covering a wide range of topics including musical composition, editing and arranging, Celtic and world music, modal improvisation, playing expressively,  jazz, working with composers, and more.

  • Nightly concerts spanning musical styles from Bach to Bebop, World Sounds and Celtic Music. 

  • A mid-day break to nap, take a walk in the surrounding gardens and hillside trails, play in casual harp jams or do yoga and other Healthy Harpist exercises.

Jessica Siegel

Jessica Siegel received her MA in Music Education and Harp Performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music and Case Western Reserve University where she studied with the eminent harpist, Alice Chalifoux.  Her performance career has included orchestral, solo and chamber music in Cleveland, Ohio and the San Francisco Bay Area.

In 2003, Jessica opened Harps Etc. with the goal of making the harp visible and accessible to a larger audience.  She has dedicated herself creating an environment that encourages both harpists and harp aficionados opportunities to learn about the harp through private lessons and performance opportunities, workshops, master classes, ensembles, and performances of world class harpists.  Jessica has taught students of all ages and abilities.  Several of her students have continued on to professional harp careers.  She was commissioned by the Music Teacher Association of California to create the Harp Syllabus currently used in California Certificate of Merit Program and has been a sought after presenter and master teacher of the harp.

Jessica has been an active member of the Bay Area Chapter of the American Harp Society.  She has served as Vice President and President of the chapter, helped to organizethe 2006 American Harp Society Conference in San Francisco as the Exhibit Coordinator and has served on the national level on the American Harp Society Board of Directors as the Western Region Director, the Coordinator of the Regional Directors and of the Membership Group and as a member of the Nominations Committee.

Through the years, Jessica has produced numerous concerts, workshops and festivals through Harps Etc.  In 2015, Jessica created the Diablo Valley Arts Academy, a non- profit organization, to offer music lessons and scholarships, present concerts, workshops and festivals to inspire, educate and bring people together through music education and performance opportunities.
